Why “Kata”
Named for the part of practice nobody watches.
A kata is a form you drill alone — the same sequence, over and over, until you stop counting it out. Nobody buys a ticket to watch one. It’s the work that makes the visible work look easy.
Running a studio has a kata too. It’s the part after the client leaves: who paid, who’s down to one session, what you owe in April. Most software makes that part louder. This was built to make it quiet enough to forget — so the attention it was taking goes back to the person in front of you.

Where's online booking for my clients?
Clients can request one-on-one times from your own booking link, and you approve them (or let them book instantly). Group-class self-booking isn't built: if your model needs clients booking themselves into classes, Punchpass or Momence will fit you better. If your schedule is a conversation, you're home.
How do I get my clients in?
CSV import, with a template. Fill it in (name, contact, sessions left) from any other app's export or from memory, and import it.
Is there a contract?
No. Month to month, cancel from Settings, no call required. Annual is optional and only exists for the discount.
Client limits?
No. The price is the price — growing your roster is your reward, not our upsell.
Can I get my data out?
Everything exports to CSV, any time, including during the trial. Lock-in is the incumbents' strategy. Ours is being worth keeping.
Is my clients' data secure?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated per business, and never sold or shared. You can export everything yourself, and the owner can close the studio from Settings to have it deleted. The plain-English details are in our privacy policy.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your account goes read-only. Nothing is deleted, your export still works, and if you subscribe later everything is exactly where you left it. Your data never gets held hostage to make you pay.
Is my team included?
Yes. Invite trainers and admins from Settings at no extra cost; each signs in with their own email.
Is there an app to download?
No app store. Open studiokata.com/app on your phone and add it to your Home Screen; it works on iPhone, Android, and any computer, and keeps working offline.
Do my clients get emails?
Only once you turn them on. Then they can get reminders, receipts, and balance notes, and unsubscribe from any of them.
Can therapists use it?
For scheduling, packages, and payments, yes. It isn't built for clinical or health records, so keep those in your records system.
How fast is support?
Write to [email protected] and a person answers within a business day.
Do you take a cut of my payments?
0%. Payments move directly from your client to you over Venmo, Zelle, cash, or check. We never touch the money, so we can't charge for it. (If you use a Venmo business profile, Venmo's own 1.9% + 10¢ applies — still a fraction of a platform's processing take.)
